The Blood Pressure Game - Practice Taking Blood Pressure
The goal of the game is to accurately measure systolic (high) and diastolic (low) blood pressure values using a manual sphygmomanometer. Earn points for correct answers and level up as you improve.
Instructions:
- This game can be played using a mouse or a touchscreen.
- Press the Play Game button to begin playing the game.
- The needle will begin rotating counterclockwise.
- To adjust the speed of the needle, slide the Air Release Valve to the left to slow it down or to the right to speed it up.
- Follow the needle and listen carefully. When the needle starts jumping and you hear a beeping sound, that indicates the systolic pressure. When the jumping and beeping stop, that indicates the diastolic pressure.
- Use the number buttons below the gauge to enter the correct readings for the systolic and diastolic pressure.
- Finally click the Submit Answer button.
- The margin of the correct answer is +/- 5 mmHg.
- From the start of each round, you have 50 seconds to submit your answer. For each correct answer, you will be awarded points. Your score is displayed on the left side of the Results Bar.
- Points are awarded based on the following table. You'll always move to the next level after 5 correct answers.
Level Points per correct answer 1 10 2 20 3 30 4 40 5 50 6 60 7 70 8 80 9 90 10 100 - The timer is displayed to the right of the score in the Results Bar. As time passes, the bar will get shorter.
- If you have not submitted a measurement when the time runs out, you will receive a strike.
- If you have not entered the correct pressures before the time runs out, you will receive a strike.
- For each incorrect answer, you will receive a strike. After three strikes, the game is over. The number of strikes you have received is displayed on the right side of the Results Bar.
