The Shopping Money Counting Game
Instructions:
- Use this game to learn and practice how to add up your purchases and count out the correct amount using bills and coins.
- This game can be played using a mouse or a touchscreen.
- Press the Play Game button to begin playing the game.
- Two or more dollar amounts will appear above the white play area.
- Using your mouse or finger, click or tap and hold the bills and coins below the white play area, then drag them one at a time to the white play area.
- When you think you've placed the correct amount of money to the play area, click or tap the Submit Answer button below.
- For each correct answer, you will be awarded points. Your score is displayed on the left side of the Results Bar.
- You can select from two different timer lengths: 30sec (harder) and 60sec (easier). Points are awarded based on the following table.

- The timer is represented to the right of the score in the Results Bar. As time passes, the bar will get shorter.
- If you haven't placed the correct amount of money to the play area when the time runs out, you'll receive a strike.
- After three strikes, the game is over. The number of strikes you have received is indicated on the right side of the Results Bar.
- Click the Settings button to adjust your preferences for the game.
- Timer: The default setting is On. Select Off to have unlimited time to answer.
- Sounds: The default setting is On. Select Off to mute all game sounds.
- Difficulty: By default, questions include decimals. To make the game easier, select "Wholes" instead.
- Time: The default time limit is 30 seconds. To make the game easier, select 60 seconds instead.
- Range: By default, the price of each item in the questions is between $0 and $10. To make the game more challenging, you can choose a range of $0 to $100 or $0 to $500.
- # of Items: Select how many items you would like to add up.
- Mode: By default, you're in "game mode." To make the game easier, you can select "Training Mode." In Training Mode, you'll see the current amount of money in the play area displayed above the Results Bar.
- The current settings are always displayed in the lower-left corner of the ruler image.
- The settings you have selected are stored in your browser for the duration of your session. You can refresh your browser to start a new game, but if you close it, the settings will reset to default the next time you visit the game.
