The Depth Micrometer Game - Learn to Read a Depth Micrometer
Instructions:
- This game helps you learn and practice how to read both inch (imperial) and metric depth micrometer.
- This game can be played using a mouse or a touchscreen.
- Press the Play Game button to begin playing the game.
- A measurement to select will appear above the depth micrometer.
- With your mouse or finger, click or tap and hold the thimble (handle), then move it left or right until it reaches the correct spot on the sleeve (main scale).
- Then use the minus and plus icons below the depth micrometer to precisely adjust the "sleeve main" and "thimble scale".
- When you believe you have the correct answer, click or tap the Submit Answer button below the depth micrometer.
- For each correct answer, you will earn points. Your score is displayed on the left side of the Results Bar which appears below the depth micrometer.
- Points are awarded based on the following table.

- he timer is displayed to the right of the score in the Results Bar. As time passes, the bar shortens. It begins green, turns yellow, and finally turns red when only a few seconds remain.
- If you have not selected the correct measurement before the time runs out, you will receive a strike. After three strikes, the game is over. The number of strikes is displayed on the right side of the Results Bar.
- Click the Settings button to adjust your preferences for the game.
- Timer: The default setting is On. Select Off to have unlimited time to submit your answer.
- Sounds: The default setting is On. Select Off to mute all game sounds.
- Unit: Choose between inch and metric unit. The default is inch.
- Mode: The default mode is "Find". You can also select "Type". In Type mode, numbers appear below the depth micrometer, and you can enter the correct answer by either clicking these numbers or using your keyboard. If you want to make the game easier, select "Training" mode. In this mode, you can see the current values of the main sleeve and thimble scale. It's a great way to experiment, move the thimble and watch how it affects the readings.
- The current settings are always displayed in the lower-right corner of the depth micrometer.
- The settings you have selected are stored in your browser for the duration of your session. You can refresh your browser to start a new game, but if you close it, the settings will reset to default the next time you visit the game.
