How to Play the Mental Math Game

Mental Math Game challenges your working memory and mental arithmetic by asking you to keep a changing total in your head. The calculations are kept simple, but the chains get longer and the operations appear faster as you progress.

• Press Play. A starting number appears.
• Operations then flash one at a time (for example +3, ×2, −4). Apply each operation to the running total in your head.
• When the chain ends, you see = ? and have 6 seconds to type the final total. The bar above the game shows the time left. Tap Submit, or press Enter on desktop.
• Level 1 has one operation after the start number. Each cleared level adds one more operation, up to level 30.
• The operations appear faster as you reach higher levels.
• A wrong answer or running out of time costs 1 heart. You stay on the same level and get another chain.
• You have 3 hearts. Lose all three and the game ends.
• Your score is the length of the longest chain you clear, counting the starting number as one item. For example, clearing level 1 gives you a score of 2. The maximum score is 31.
• Operands are 1–9; intermediate totals stay between 0 and 99. Operations are +, −, and occasional ×2 or ×3. No division.
• Clear level 30 to complete the game.
